CHICAGO Nike Air Force 1 Sale , July 20 (Xinhua) -- Brendt Christensen, the accused kidnapper of Chinese scholar Zhang Yingying, pleaded not guilty to charges against him on Thursday during his arraignment at a federal court in Midwest U.S. state of Illinois.


The arraignment in federal courthouse in Urbana of Illinois lasted not more than five minutes, and Christensen broke his silence, speaking some time during the proceeding.


As expected, Christensen pleaded not guilty in his third appearance in less than three weeks in U.S. Magistrate Judge Eric Long's crowded courtroom.


In a statement, Christensen's attorney Anthony Bruno said: "he's demanded a jury trial and he plans to persist in his plea of not guilty."


Asked about the worldwide attention the case has received Nike Air Force 1 Mens , Bruno said: "bad things happen everywhere. Nowhere else in the U.S. is a person from China more welcome."


Bruno said the case could go on a year or more.


U.S. lawyer Wang Zhidong, who has been offering legal support to the Zhang family on a voluntary basis, said outside the court, "this result is not unexpected and the case enters into another stage."


Christensen's next pretrial hearing was set for 2:45 p.m. on August 28, and his trial date is set for Sept. 12.


FBI officials also say they don't believe that Zhang is alive at this point. Law enforcement agencies are still searching for Zhang's location.


Zhang, a visiting scholar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), was last seen entering a black Saturn Astra car driven by 28-year-old Brendt Christensen on June 9.


Police arrested Christensen for kidnapping 26-year-old Zhang on June 30 Nike Air Force 1 Womens , but Zhang's location is still unknown.


The FBI believes Zhang is deceased, based on facts presented in court, court documents and other facts uncovered during the ongoing investigation.


Christensen was indicted on July 12 by a federal grand jury on a criminal charge related to Zhang's abduction. He has been remaining in custody since then.




China will strengthen the building of a security network with measures that include intensified counter-terror operations on public transport and video security monitoring.


According to a circular jointly issued by the general offices of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council and published on Monday, the authorities will reinforce police patrols to promote security, especially during morning and evening rush hours and in crowded places.


Security measures for public transport, including bus, subway and railway stations Nike Air Force 1 Mid , airports, ports and along high-speed rail lines, should be intensified to prevent violence, terrorism attacks or extreme events at such sites, the document said.

The document called for enhanced measures to build a security network that covers all grassroots communities and urged use of modern technologies such as information networks and security video monitoring systems.


It required the establishment of a national population information database linked to citizens' ID information and credit records.


Effective security analysis and rule of law are also needed to build the network, the document said, adding that the government will encourage the public to join by recruiting more community volunteers and promising handsome rewards for reporting serious crimes.

Minister of the Enterprise Annie Loof, Qingdao Vice Mayor Li Chenggang, Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Chen Yuming, and Mayor of Trollhattan Paul Akerlund attended the ceremony, celebrating the event in the Saab history.


Annie Loof Nike Air Force 1 High , Minister of Enterprise praised the significance of the Saab's factory in Trollhattan, and said, "Although Nevs has made its stay possible in its own means, we from the Swedish government hope that our policies along with other competitive things will be a solid foundation for Nevs to prosper here in Sweden."


The car produced is a high-spec Saab 9-3 Aero Sedan with a 220 hp 2.0-liter turbo, a previously recognized high-performance engine of the Saab cars. Sales are initially focused in China with a small number of vehicles being sold directly from Nevs to Swedish customers via the Nevs' website.


The electric car based on the Saab 9-3 will be launched in spring 2014, with China as the first market. Nevs' partner and part owner Qingdao has initially placed an order for a pilot fleet of 200 electric cars with delivery starting in spring 2014.


At the beginning of this year, Qingdao invested SEK 2 billion Nike Air Force 1 , obtaining a 22 percent ownership share of NEVS through a directed share issue.
