In 2002, the band released Lil’ Beethoven, which Wright views as the point at which “Sparks entered a third phase in their career and really paved the way for what they are now.” He calls it “a really extraordinary album because they break down what they do into repeated chants. It takes away the rock aspects of it for the most part and also takes away the electronic beats. And so, it almost becomes like a neo-classical opera in a way, but it’s also a really funny album because they take little observations about life and make them into songs. I almost think it’s like listening to the operatic equivalent of Curb Your Enthusiasm. [Laughs] But it’s an incredible listen. And it really is just an extraordinary piece of work.”

It’s unclear which projects will become Netflix properties, but it’s important to remember that Spielberg himself is still essentially a free agent in Hollywood when it comes to theatrical projects. In the past few years, he has made movies for Universal, 20th Century Studios, and Disney, so he is not locked in to one specific place.

The missed opportunity here, outside of actually making a good and/or funny comedy, sits with Lucy and the possibility of a gender-swapped follow-up. Imagine the shenanigans a smart high school girl with the power could get up to, and then shake your head in dismay as a jealous Lucy finally drinks the potion only to humiliate other girls. It’s a throwaway sequence, but it’s the film’s biggest disappointment (in a movie that’s nothing but disappointment).

Dafne Keen and Amir Wilson reprise their roles as Lyra and Will, two children who find themselves at the center of a war against God that spans countless alternate worlds. Yes, things have gotten crazy since Lyra first embarked on a quest to rescue a bunch of kidnapped children from Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson) and the oppressive Magisterium of her world, and the series has transformed into a wild universe-hopping fantasy that pits supernatural forces against divine armies. Also returning in the third season are Simone Kirby as Mary Malone, Will Keen as Father President McPhail, Jade Anouka as Ruta Skadi, Ruta Gedminstas as Serafina Pekkala, and James McAvoy as Lord Asriel.

Someone stole Nicolas Cage‘s prize foraging pig, and he’s not going to stand for it. That’s the premise of Pig, and while that sounds like a John Wick-style movie with a pig standing in for a dog, the Pig trailer hints at something much different. Sure, that premise is inherently amusing – Nic Cage hunting down pig kidnappers – but it looks like writer-director Michael Sarnoski has created something far more subtle and introspective than you might expect. This kind of interaction can definitely be more appealing and refreshing to female audiences, since competition is so engrained into our daily lives thanks to certain old-fashioned societal norms. To see powerful women on screen collaborate and embrace their differences is always enjoyable since we have been watching the opposite for so long.
